Mystic Mountain

The park sits in the hills immediately west of Ocho Rios, and the ride up is
half the point. The Sky Explorer is an open chairlift that carries you roughly
700 feet above sea level, over the top of the rainforest canopy, with the harbour
and the coast opening up behind you. Plenty of people ride it purely for that and
never get near the fast things.

The fast things are worth doing. The bobsled runs 3,280 feet of gravity-driven
track down through the trees, and you control it yourself with a hand brake —
ride it gently or let it go and touch forty miles an hour. There is also the
Raggamuffin, a two-seater coaster, a canopy zipline circuit, and a waterslide into
a pool at the bottom if you want to cool off before you leave.

Who it suits

It is the most family-friendly attraction on this coast, and one of the few
where a nervous grandparent and a teenager who wants to go fast can both have a
good morning. Food and drink are available on site, so nobody has to be rushed.

How long to allow

Half a day is comfortable. The park sells several package levels, and which one
makes sense depends on how much of it you actually intend to ride — tell us
who is coming and we will tell you which to book rather than selling you the
biggest one.
