Villas with a
private pool

Almost every luxury villa in Jamaica has its own pool, and it is one of the main reasons people choose a villa over a resort. What varies is the setting — infinity edges over the sea on the north coast, cliffside pools around Negril, and larger garden pools inland where the plots are bigger.

Heated is rare, and rarely needed

Jamaican pools are almost never heated, because they almost never need to be. Water sits comfortably warm year round, dropping slightly in January and February evenings. If you are traveling with someone who genuinely feels the cold, ask — a handful of properties do have heating, but assume not.

Fenced pools and small children

Most villa pools are not fenced, and many have an infinity edge with a drop beyond it. If you are bringing toddlers, say so when you enquire. Some properties can add temporary fencing, some genuinely are not suitable, and it is much better to know that before you arrive than after.
